N2 - In this article the Strategic Labor Allocation Process model (SLAP) is described. The model relates HR-strategies to structure, culture and task technology to HR-policies like recruitment, appraisal and rewarding, to business strategy and to socio-cultural, economic, institutional and technological developments in the organization's environment. Contrary to some other models strategic human resource management high commitment HRM is treated as a variable and not as a necessary condition to high levels of organizational performance. The model can be applied to map nut the interdependencies between human resource strategy business strategy and organizational change
