    Abstract

We report a novel type of photon echo, the relased two-color stimulated echo, in the molecular mixed crystal of pentacene in naphthalene. A prerequisite to observation of this type of echo is that the inhomogeneous broadening on the selected transitions be correlated. The echo is used to study the picosecond vibrational deactivation of some excited-state vibrations of pentacene. Evidence for intermediate levels in the relaxation pathway is presented.
