Utbildningshistoria: en introduktion

This book provides an easily accessible presentation of the history of the Swedish education system. Educational reforms for preschool, primary school, public education and university are described and introductions to the history of school subjects are presented, including Swedish, history and social studies. Comprehensive and transversal perspectives on the history of education are established for questions relating to the economic history of education, the development of the teaching staff, the importance of social conditions for education, education policy and grades and assessment.

About twenty authors participate in the book, most of whom are leading specialists in the subjects they write about. This fourth edition is updated with, among other things, descriptions of the history of sexuality education.

History of education – an introduction is aimed at future teachers as well as students and researchers in, for example, history and pedagogy who need to be able to place the school's situation in a wider context and in a longer time perspective.
