The essays collected in this book reflect on the views and conceptions of adult education policy in the Netherlands.
ln chapter I adult education is defined as: 'all more or less institutionalized activities which aim at helping adult persons - starting from their common experiences and interests - to come to a better understanding and critical evaluation of their situation, and to an independent and direct edactualization of their potentialities in the communities to which they belong.' ln this manner adult education is not defined in the restricted
sense as an intra-personal process, but as an inter-personal pocess strongly related to the societal context and the social groups to which adults belong. ...
