Abstract
Due to several developments in practice, e.g. the introduction of pharmaceutical care, pharmacies have provided more attention to individualized care for patients over the last years. An example is the preparation of compliance packs for distribution to nursing homes. The introduction of such a distribution system is shown, illustrated by own experiences. The necessary procedures and practical approaches are explained and an analysis of the necessary manpower, costs and benefits was made. It is concluded that pharmacies are appropriate for the management of medication distribution systems for nursing homes, when these are used to deal with procedures and quality assurance.
