Abstract
In 2014 the Groningen Museum organised an exhibition around the 18th-century nabob Jan Albert Sichterman. He made a fortune in Bengal and back in his birth town Groningen people were surprised about the black servants which formed part of his staff at his country house and monumental city 'palace'.
