    Activiteit: Organising and contributing to an event Professional

    Since December of 2019, when the SARS-CoV-2 virus started to spread, it has reached every corner of the world. South America is among the regions that have been affected particularly by COVID-19, with Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina among the top 15 nations with confirmed cases. While states have taken several measures to contain the virus - including lockdowns and travel restrictions - many governments explored innovative data-driven strategies to deal with the pandemic.

    However, such strategies also present challenges. In this panel we discuss contact tracing apps, immunity certificates and other data-driven solutions developed in South America to manage the pandemic. Our intention is to explore whether

    - the measures were/are efficient;
    - human rights such as privacy have been respected and protected;
    - whether the measures lead to discrimination, stigmatisation and increased societal division.
