Employees working with a concealable stigmatized identity, including but not limited to mental disorders, substance abuse, and sexual orientation, oftentimes face decisions about sharing this identity with others at work. A crucial element that can facilitate such decisions is the extent to which the work environment is perceived to be inclusive and supportive. Building on my own research with lesbian, gay, and bisexual workers, I shared some insights as to how we can cultivate an inclusive work environment for all, wherein everyone feels valued and encouraged to bring their true selves to work.
