Description
When I first started living on my own as a student, I ended up in a crisis. Due to a lack of structure and relaxation, I experienced burnout, anxiety, and confusion. Now, 15 years later, I live independently, do a lot of (volunteer) work, and am in balance. In this personal account, I openly share my journey from mismanagement to managing autism. I have learned that living well with autism is possible if I handle it properly. I will take you through how I learned to structure my day. I couldn’t copy this from anyone else; I had to find my own way. I introduce three simple principles that helped me: Alternating, Scaling, and Supporting (the ASS approach). Whether you are autistic, a caregiver, or a professional, my story offers inspiration and practical tools for achieving better balance.
