NIDI - the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute - is the national demographic institute of the Netherlands. NIDI was founded in 1970. NIDI became an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) in 2003 and is the only social science institute of the Academy. Since 2014 NIDI is also affiliated with the University of Groningen (RUG). Firmly rooted in science and society, NIDI strives for scientific excellence and draws its inspiration from the interplay of demographic and social issues.
