During this event, Dr Tom Long will give an assessment of current sustainability challenges and progress towards tackling them, in addition to considering the role of businesses and entrepreneurship in doing so. As our second speaker, Henryk Wuppermann will talk about the importance of sustainability for energy company E.ON and the company’s path towards becoming more sustainable. Tom Long is an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Entrepreneurship at the Campus Fryslân. His research centres on responsible innovation in sustainable entrepreneurial contexts, entrepreneurship in heritage areas, and sustainable business models. Tom co-directs and coordinates the Sustainable Start-up Academy at Campus Fryslân, an initiative to inspire, motivate and support students in launching their own sustainable ventures. Henryk Wuppermann is Head of Corporate &aStructured Finance at E.ON SE, where he is also responsible for the funding of the group with annual funding needs of about 2-4bn Euros. In his capacity, he is the point of contact for banks and bond investors, such as asset managers and insurance companies. Prior to joining E.ON, he worked several years at Bayer AG and before that in banking. Henryk has studied Business administration and received an MBA from LMU Munich.
