    Description

In this episode we kick off "Once upon a time there was a humanist", a new series of our podcast in which we interview academics and researchers whose work expands the traditional margins of the humanities. On this occasion, we have the pleasure of interviewing Leonardo Arriagada, a PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of Chile and the University of Groningen, whose research - recognised with two awards at the 2020 Noorden Digital Awards - seeks to answer whether artificial intelligence is capable of creating art. In this interview, we aim to delve into the implications this question has not only for the relationship between philosophy, art, and science, but also for our understanding of those attributes with which we tend to define humans in general: autonomy, creativity, and spontaneity, among others. Of course, true to TLT's convictions, our interview would not be complete without a discussion of Leo's academic and personal journey, as he talks about his beginnings as a school mathematics teacher, his experience in public service, and his beginnings in philosophy as a student at the Universidad Diego Portales, where he shared a classroom with the creator and spiritual leader of this Podcast.
