In 2020, the University of Groningen Library (UB) and the Open Science Community Groningen (OSCG) launched the annual Open Research Award, including the event 'Celebrating Openness to celebrate the many ways in which academics make their research more accessible, transparent or reproducible.

The study "Identification of age-related CpG sites from longitudinal avian methylomes" was selected as one (of three) winners in 2024.
