    Samenvatting

A thermophilic Clostridium sp. with extremely thermoresistant spores was isolated from a pectin-limited continuous culture of Clostridium thermosaccharolyticum. The decimal reduction time of the spores was 70 min at 121-degrees-C. Because of the ability of the bacterium to grow both heterotrophically and lithotrophically, it has a potential for infecting a wide range of thermophilic anaerobic cultures.
