    Samenvatting

An overview is presented of a proposed research programme to achieve low-radon concentration buildings. The approach focusses on the understanding of the physical processes responsible for radon infiltration. This approach leads to studies in the laboratory in which data obtained under controlled conditions will be used to validate model descriptions. By making radon an integral part of the indoor climate the aim is to improve the radon situation indoors without the situation for other agents or energy consumption deteriorating. This proposed programme is illustrated by results from recently completed research in a test house and with a description of currently continuing research in laboratory facilities.
