Cultural Tourism is concerned with a country or region's culture, specifically the lifestyle of the people in those geographical areas, the history of those people, their art, architecture, religion, and other elements that helped shape their way of life. Our article “Sustainable future for Frisian folklore: challenges for intangible cultural heritage and tourism" project the importance and opportunities that these destinations provide for authentic cultural exchange between locals and visitors.

A broad aim of the article is to introduce the concept of Cultural Tourism and create awareness about the importance and fragile nature of intangible heritage and living cultures that foster the capability and prospects of such concepts around the world whilst working towards achieving a sustainable future for them.
