Samenvatting

Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction with one-way valves is a guideline treatment option for patients with severe emphysema and hyperinflation. Nevertheless, careful patient selection is important with respect to potential risks regarding this treatment. Potential complications include pneumothorax, pneumonia, and hemoptysis. The formation of granulation tissue may lead to loss of initial treatment effect and cause other side effects. This chapter summarizes potential risk factors for treatment and the most relevant short- and long-term complications after treatment. Furthermore, indications and practice tools for revision bronchoscopy are provided.
