Samenvatting

Rieske oxygenases are multi-component enzymes whose activities rely on the single-electron activation of oxygen. As shown in the cover image, electrons are transferred between a reductase and the terminal oxygenase, often mediated by a small carrier protein called ferredoxin. As reviewed herein, their highly diverse reactivities and outstandingly broad substrate scope have attracted increasing attention in the field of biocatalysis.
