Samenvatting

The main focus of this study is to identify the organizational capabilities that are needed to implement open innovation, based on an extensive systematic literature review. To address the research question, this study reviews open innovation studies that discuss organizational capabilities related to the implementation of open innovation. Based on suggestions of previous research, we developed a dedicated literature database with relevant articles. The initial results of the literature review show that various capabilities are considered to be important for implementing open innovation. This insight is necessary for managers who intend to increase the openness of their innovation strategies, or who aim for increasing the effectiveness of their current open innovation activities. Suggestions for managers and researchers are provided in the discussion.
