Samenvatting

Organ transplantation comprises removal, transport and/or storage, and placement of a donor organ from a donor to a receiver Lungs (1a), (1b) provide unique challenges in organ transplantation because of their unique properties. Lungs (1a), (1b) are flexible to allow to naturally expand and contract to facilitate breathing of an individual. This natural flexibility require a lung (1a), (1b) to be ventilated, that is to be connected to a device to inflate the lung (1a), (1b), in order to prevent a contraction of the lung damaging the lung during transplantation. The current invention relates to a lung storage device for storing a human lung (1a), (1b) and a method for using the lung storage device in storing the human lung (1a), (1b).
