Samenvatting

Femtosecond temporally two-dimensional Raman scattering, that was originally designed to characterize the time scale(s) of intermolecular dynamics in liquids, also provides information on mode coupling mechanisms. Polarizability mode coupling suppresses the formation of motional echoes, that normally should occur when there are slow components in the time scales of local structural changes in the liquid.
