    Samenvatting

For patients with a ruptured aortic aneurysm or a vascular surgery patients in general it is important to know which variables raise the risk of complications after treatment. But it is also important to know which patients gain the most from treatment. For patients with a ruptured aortic aneurysm a risk model is developed to calculate the risk of mortality prior to surgery. This can aid the physician to decide together with the patients what type of treatment is best. In addition to this, the association between lab values (RDW and eosinophils), functional status en nutritional status and complications 90 days after admission are evaluated. Impaired functional status and nutritional status are robustly associated with adverse events up to 90 days after admission, as well as an abnormal RDW or eosinophil value is associated with adverse events.
