    Samenvatting

This article addresses a number of questions that are related to the historical development of the dialect. After a short description of the vowels and their phonetic variability the vowel system is scrutinized from a diachronic point of view. The correspondences with Proto-Slavic vowels are regular but differ from those in other present-day Kajkavian dialects that are known to us.This agrees with the hypothesis that the original location of the dialect was peripheral with regard to the area where Kajkavian is spoken nowadays. After that the best-known hypothesis about the origins of the inhabitants of Hedešin and Homok is discussed. In the author's opinion this hypothesis cannot be proven beyond doubt at the present moment, but it is plausible for several reasons. Finally something is said about the way in which the dialect was influenced by Hungarian and other varieties of Croatian.
