Samenvatting

In de video vertelt Daniël over zijn onderzoeksproject 'Lost building traditions: turf construction and early medieval architecture in the southern North Sea area'. Voor dit project bouwde hij samen met tientallen vrijwilligers de eerste reconstructie van een vroegmiddeleeuws zodenhuis. Rondom de bouw werden verschillende publieksactiviteiten georganiseerd en van de werkzaamheden werd verslag gedaan in de regionale media, op de website en via sociale media. Omrop Fryslân maakte een uitgebreide documentaire (deel1 / deel 2) die ook op NPO2 werd uitgezonden. In het rijk geïllustreerde en toegankelijk geschreven zodenhuisboek presenteert Daniël de wetenschappelijke achtergronden bij de reconstructie. Voor dit bijzondere bouwproject, dat in nauwe samenwerking met de Provincie Fryslân werd uitgevoerd, kreeg Daniël steun van vele vrijwilligers en collega's en tal van subsidiegevers en projectpartners.
