Recent studies show that the subjective well-being (SWB) of university lecturers is often impaired due to high work demands, which has negative consequences for themselves, students and the university system. Therefore, it is important that they successfully cope with the responsibilities placed on them. Although SWB and coping are relevant for university lecturers, little is known about interindividual differences - especially with regard to personal predictors. Therefore, we analysed cross-sectional data on SWB, coping and individual influencing factors of 899 university lecturers from 45 universities in Germany. The results of multivariate variance analyses indicate statistically significant differences in SWB and coping depending on gender, academic position and teaching experience. Therefore, university lecturers with little teaching experience and women could particularly benefit from SWB and coping support.
